Samsung has their work cut out for them with the Galaxy Note 8

As many of you know, I have a soft spot for arguing about cell phones. A good phone is probably the most important gadget that someone like me can have; it’s my most frequently available object with an internet connection, it’s what brings me closest to social media and my music, and it’s where I take 99% of my photos.

With that in mind, I tend to try to chase what’s best whenever it’s feasible, and for many years, I was very, very high on the Galaxy Note series. I’m not quite sure that the public knew what the point of the very first model of the device was, and honestly, I’m not sure if Samsung did either. We all knew that it was gigantic compared to the competition, that the battery was huge, and that they were attempting to bring styluses back just a few years after we got used to multi-touch. I had a Note 3 and loved it but hen Apple added the big screen models, I wanted to check that out when upgrade time came around. I’ve been happy there too and since I’ve got an iPad and a Mac it’s nice to have things work together so well.

A buddy’s got the S8Plus and I love that and it’s upgrade time again… But I won’t make a move until I get a look at the new iPhone.

BTW. I’m a tech nerd and enjoy these posts, so keep’em coming.

This morning, this little nugget of information eked out of the Russian media about 24-year-old Igor Ozhiganov: Continue Reading…

Relax, the Leafs probably aren’t bringing back Roman Polak

Earlier today, Leafs Twitter was set into a frenzy of debate, thanks to a video of Roman Polak skating in a Leafs practice jersey posted by his agent, Alan Walsh. You can find the video here; I was planning on embedding it because that’s what blogs do and half of Hockey Twitter is blocked by Mr. Walsh, but’s also one of those people who record videos vertically, which wasn’t going to be a good fit.

Now, a lot of people are taking this clip, the first of Polak skating since suffering a terrible fibula injury in the first round of the 2016/17 playoffs, as reason to believe that he’ll be coming back to the Leafs next year. I wouldn’t read too much into that, though. Continue Reading…

The Mailbag: August 21st

We’ll just go with Monday right now. It’s familiar and I don’t really have a content schedule in place anyway, so until that changes, we’ll go with that.

Yeah, I haven’t really gotten better at doing introductory paragraphs for the Mailbag over the years. Let’s just hop into the questions. Continue Reading…
