Barring a down-to-the-wire contract extension for William Nylander, the Toronto Maple Leafs’ opening night lineup appears to be set. The team made it’s final cuts today, in the form of three transactions: waiving goaltenders Calvin Pickard and Curtis McElhinney, and trading defenceman Connor Carrick to the Dallas Stars. The moves ended the debates regarding two insignificant sounding, yet still relatively important positions (third defensive pair and backup goaltender), and not without some controversy.
